Vegas Golden Knights Secured Playoff Spot

Vegas Golden Knights secured a playoff spot for the Stanley Cup last March 26, after beating the Colorado Avalanche, 4-1, at T-Mobile Arena Las Vegas, Nevada.

Head Coach Gerard Gallant expressed he did not expect the team to make it to the playoffs.

“For an expansion team to make the playoffs, it’s incredible,” Gallant said in an article posted by Gary Lawless on the official website of National Hockey League (NHL).

The Vegas Golden Knights, which is currently the leading team in the Pacific Division, managed to bag a place in the NHL standings in their introductory season, exceeding team owner Bill Foley’s plans and expectations for the team to make it to the playoffs during their third season.

The Golden Knights is the first expansion team to clinch a playoff berth and the first NHL team to clinch a playoff berth in its inaugural season since ice hockey teams Edmonton Oilers and Hartford Whalers back in 1979-80.

“I’m really proud of the way these guys battle every night to have all the success we’ve had all season,” Vegas Golden Knights Goaltender Marc-Andre Fleury told in Lawless’ article.

Aside from their first season victories that are one right after the other, the Vegas Golden Knights have another thing to be proud of—Professional Hockey Writer’s Association Las Vegas Chapter has selected their defenseman Brad Hunt as one of the 2018 Bill Masterton Memorial Trophy nominees.

The said trophy is an annual award given to professional hockey players who show exceptional qualities of perseverance, sportsmanship, and dedication to hockey.

Vegas Golden Knights will be playing against the Vancouver Canucks this coming April 3 at Rogers Arena, Vancouver, Canada.

The playoffs for the 2018 Stanley Cup will begin on April 11, 2018 and the Golden Knights is one of the sixteen teams who will play for the win.

Vegas Golden Knights fans may purchase single-game tickets for the first-round playoff series on April 2 at 10 AM Pacific Time at https://www.nhl.com/goldenknights/tickets.
